What this test is
The HIV ELISA test detects antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in blood. The body takes 3–12 weeks after exposure to make detectable antibodies, so testing too early can give a false negative. The test is highly sensitive — positive results are always confirmed with a second test (Western blot or HIV-2 specific) before any final diagnosis. We handle all HIV testing with strict patient privacy.
