What this test is
Hepatitis C antibody detects whether your immune system has been exposed to the hepatitis C virus. A positive result means infection — past or present. Confirmation requires HCV RNA testing to know if the virus is still active. Modern hepatitis C treatment (direct-acting antivirals) cures over 95% of cases with a 12-week oral course — making testing important even for symptom-free people.

FAQs
What if antibody test is positive?
We follow up with an HCV RNA test to confirm active infection. If active, modern treatment cures most cases in 12 weeks of oral medication. Why might antibody be positive but RNA negative?
Either the infection cleared on its own (about 25% of cases), or it was previously treated. You can still mark the immunity history.
